Symptoms
I am using the portable version of PDF-XChange Editor, and I would like to add a new language pack that can be used for the user interface language. When I download a language pack and add it to the software folder, I encounter an issue and the language is not available to use.
Cause
The most likely cause of this issue is that the user has not converted the language pack from (*.xclpack) to (*.zip) format before copying the files into the Languages folder of their PDF-XChange Editor installation.
Resolution
Please follow the steps below to resolve this issue:
1. Ensure PDF-XChange Editor is closed on the target machine.
2. Download the desired language from the PDF-XChange Editor Language Support page available here.
3. Change the (*.xclpack) extension to (*.zip). For example, German should be changed from German.xclpack to German.zip. You can use the right-click Windows shortcut menu to rename files for this purpose.
4. Open the (*.zip) file and copy all the files in it to the Languages folder of your installation of the portable version of PDF-XChange Editor.
The desired language will then be available for you to use in your portable installation of PDF-XChange Editor, and you can select it via File > Preferences > Languages.
