I have been using this suite of programs for years.
This is the most powerful suite of software for working with PDFs.
You can make many changes to PDF files, convert between different formats, extract individual elements, and optimize file sizes using custom templates.

Last year I looked for alternatives to this software and couldn't find any.
Even if you use MacOS, it's worth setting up a virtual Windows machine and installing PDF-XChange PRO on it...

I have to confess... I use PDF-XChange Editor for a long time. And now I can enjoy a legally bought copy of it! Most of all I like how easily you can make small changes in most of the PDF files with no conversion back and forth. Sometimes I even use it as a simple vector graphics editor! Some days ago I tried OCR functionality. And to my big surprise, PDF-XChange Editor did it well despite the fact that the document was in Russian...

Pros: The interface is so easy to use - much easier than Acrobat! The menus are more easily customized, and functionality seems much easier to find. The "Add Text" feature is my favorite. It's so much easier to pinpoint exactly where I want to insert the text and then to adjust it to where I want it to be. And it is also easier to adjust the size, typeface, etc. It's so intuitive, and I like the interface better than any of its competitors. Best of all, it was so much more reasonably...
