I initially used Adobe Acrobat for reading and editing PDF documents and continued using it for many years because it was essentially the only full-featured PDF editor available. Over time, alternative PDF editors entered the market. While Acrobat remained very capable, it became prohibitively expensive. I switched to another editor that was affordable and adequate, though not truly comparable to Acrobat, and continued using it primarily for cost reasons.

More recently, I discovered PDF-XChange, and it has been a genuine game-changer. It is very affordable, extremely capable, and— in my opinion— easier and more intuitive to use than Acrobat. The ribbon interface is exceptionally well designed: intuitive, visually clean, and easy on the eyes. Another outstanding aspect of this software is its maintenance pricing. In my lifetime, and after using a very large number of software products, I have never encountered maintenance pricing with such exceptional value. Paying approximately USD $23 for three years of maintenance is virtually unheard of.

The only drawback I have encountered is the Help system (F1), which requires an internet connection. This can be limiting when working offline, particularly in rural or isolated environments where internet access is unavailable. In my case, I needed to create forms while working without connectivity. Including the help documentation within the installed software would be a significant improvement.

That said, this is a minor issue compared to the overall quality and value of the product. I fully intend to continue using PDF-XChange for many years to come.

I am retired. I started using PDF-XChange Editor during my career in mainframe OS development. As I retiree, I still use the product. I mainly use it to (1) maintain my collection of PDF documents, and (2) add my notes/hints to users manuals for devices we have.

I find it to be an easily understandable product, and an easily configurable product (I have modified the main ribbon to match my usage habits with the product).

It is SOOOO much better than Adobe Acrobat Professional, which my workplace provided for free but which caused me endless frustration. PDF-XChange Plus has everything I want, and works exactly as I would want it to. So nice to use really well produced software!

The software itself is powerful and works reliably once you understand it, especially for creating interactive PDFs.

However, the documentation would benefit from a clearer, step-by-step workflow for interactive workbooks. While individual features are well explained, the correct order of actions (adding form fields, testing, selective flattening, and exporting) is not clearly outlined, which can lead to unnecessary trial and error.

Additionally, during installation it was not immediately clear that there is no separate “Editor Plus” download, as the installer appears simply as “Editor” and the Plus features are unlocked only after license activation. A short clarification at the download stage would greatly improve the user experience.

I'd been exploring options to get away from Adobe for some time (don't like the subscription model, don't like all the ads and nags in Reader to trade up), had tried PDF-XChange, and had decided that was the one for me. The interface felt comfortable and familiar, the program offered everything I normally needed (and more), and it was quick and responsive. Pre-purchase queries with the company were very quickly and pleasantly responded to (by a real person rather than getting half-answers from a bot!). The program continues to live up to expectations. Criticisms so far? Yes, I'd like the page-counter numbers at the foot of the screen to be a little bigger and much clearer and I'd like the "Find" box to be a bit clearer (I'm using a 4K display). Anything I miss? Just one thing, and only occasionally, and that's Adobe's "Convert web-site/page to pdf complete with links" facility (but then I don't think any of the other pdf programs offers that).

Overall, the user experience has been excellent. The product is powerful, stable, and there is very little to criticize.

The only area I hope can be further improved is the **JavaScript API (JS API)** support. Providing more complete and well-documented API references and examples would greatly enhance usability, especially for advanced workflows and automation.

For example, in one of my previous use cases, I needed to process a scanned document that was saddle-stitched and reorganize it into a correct and fixed page order. This involved page splitting and reordering. Although I was eventually able to achieve this by writing my own script, I found that there was a lack of clear and structured JS API documentation to refer to during development, which increased the learning curve.

Probably one of the best decisions I took to move away from the market leader, I thought I would have to wean myself away from Adobe. But this was quick and absolutely good. My machine now does not lag from the earlier bloatware of Acrobat and now all is good and nice.
Although it is now easy, still if somehow the style or rearranging pages by drag and drop could be introduced it will make things fantastic. Currently using numbers to move pages to organize them. Although I am good at that also now. :)

I've been using PDF-XChange Editor now for about 2 weeks, and I must say that I'm very impressed with the plethora of features available! I have to code a lot of PDF documents, and my process has been made much simpler with the "stamps" I can use and easily add text for additional information that's needed. I've also had to extract pages, move pages, insert pages and reorder pages, and all the functions worked very well. The best feature is that this software is not subscription-based, which I really appreciate. I am the technology manager for a nonprofit organization. We found PDF-XChange after Adobe changed the terms of their nonprofit program to basically exclude us. The sales and support staff at PDF-XChange were able to answer all my questions promptly and accurately. I love the package, it has everything I need. There aren't any missing functions, which is super nice to get a whole product.
The UI is rather industrial and it feels like there are too many ways to rome, but when you get a grip of what and where, you realise just how much is jam-packed into that software.
Love the app size - it all done in a few hundred megs, that's great and it doesn't fill up RAM, even better.

However, occasionally it prompts me that I need the editor pro in order to use certain features for which I thought I had already purchased the editor pro - confusing at times, but overall very happy with the product and what it offers.
It would be great if it could work in conjunction with some document scanners like fujito scanner for which I had my scanner work with Adobe in the past.

I really love PDF Xchange and I have been using it for the past 8 years at least. One thing I would really like to see implemented is in the print option. It would be really convienient to have a rolldown menu with print setup that we could save. let's say I would like to have a letter, portrait, zoom at 100% setup and acutal view ( not all page) and i would like to have a ledger, landscape 110% zoom setup. It would be nice not to have to redial all the different setup all the time but to have a menu with my saved printing preference, so i could change from one setup to another quickly. I am Sure that this feature would be a great improvement for people that have to print to several different format with different setup and I am sure this feature would once again set PDF Xchange ahead of all the competition ! Thank you and I hope to see this feature implemented really soon !

So far I love everything! I'm very sensitive to aesthetics, and I think the UI looks great. Customisation is equally important - not just in terms of the way things look, but also in terms of organizing tools in a way that works for me.

So please don't get antsy and change the app just for the sake of change. It's perfect as is, and my greatest fear is that you'll follow in the footsteps of so many developers who simply can't leave well enough alone. Fx. Microsoft decided to revamp OneNote, and they totally screwed up on the aesthetics. So I'm still using the version that came on a disc in 2010 - it's been 15 years but I can't stand using the newest version. It's simply ugly.

Finally, as a European, I like the fact that this isn't an American app - it was one of the deciding factors when I chose it. We are too dependent on the U.S. in so many ways, and events this year have shown that it is too risky - even dangerous - to trust Americans with our digital infrastructure (among a whole host of other things). And mind you, I have had a very close and personal relationship with the U.S., having studied, lived and worked there for a number of years, and having relatives as well as close friends there. But I have decided to seek out European alternatives to American products (but not letting go of my trusted antique OneNote), and fortunately, with PDF-XChange, it does not mean compromising on anything; on the contrary, it's so much better than Adobe Pro and Foxit Pro, both of which I have used for years.

Best PDF editor on the market by far - Adobe Acrobat garbage does not even come close to the quality of this application. Adobe have become extremely greedy, very intrusive and absolutely disgusting business to deal with. All Adobe software (including the free Adobe Reader, Photoshop and the like) is like a cancer in your computer once you install any of them and almost impossible to remove and will potentially corrupt your PC - As a programmer myself I strongly suggest DON’T EVER USE ADOBE SOFTWARE PRODUCTS - Period. I am so glad I found this user-friendly and highly professional PDF-XChange Editor and at a reasonably affordable price with fast friendly service. Keep up the good work guys! I needed a reasonably priced app to encrypt scanned PDF files. The PDF-XChange Editor does what I need and is not difficult to use. I have used the typewriter feature to complete forms and really like it. The option to mark scanned bills "paid" is also useful. I hope the app stays around for a long time.

I found the interface way too busy at first, compared to the software I was using before (Adobe Acrobat Standard, not to name it ;), but I'm used to it now and, frankly, enjoy it. It's intuitive, well-distributed and logical, and everything I need is right at my fingertips, without needing to search in obscure menus. PDF-XChange Editor is hands down the best PDF app you will ever be happy you paid for. As I am on a limited and somewhat uncertain budget I didn't spring for the additional years at incredibly reduced rates, had this been on different terms, I would have gladly paid for the extra years of continued support for pennies on the dollar.

So there you have it, it does everything I need it to do (I am a c-suite consultant) and a bunch that I don't, has an extremely intuitive interface that resonates with me, has a great competitive price point, especially when bundled with 2-3 year support, and I have had absolutely zero problems with it, it works great.

If there was complaint, it would be this, read more formats... i.e., .cbz for example.

Hi. Thank you for asking my opinion about PDF-XChange Editor (Plus and not Plus). In summary, I enjoy very much all features both editions already have. For me is more than enough for my use, and I gladly accept paying for your hard work to create and maintain them. My only (big) issue is that I use Linux, so I need to use an auxiliary software (wine) to use PDF-XChange. The process is no perfect, so things like Text-to-Speech (which I would like to use it) is not working, an sometimes I have problems with the Editor not closing, so I need to kill the process.

Another issue that I had it was that I bought PDF-XChange last year through one of your resellers, and they didn't offer me any discount or promotion when it was close to the end of my license period. It was just by chance and interest by my part that I managed to buy the Plus edition with a discount this year, and only after one of your support people, kindly me guiding me through the necessary steps for that.

All in all I am very satisfied with your software and because it helps me a lot in my daily tasks, I am planning using it for years to come.

It was always useful at home and in the thousands of business installations I made. Excel conversion seems improved, OCR seems yet to be not 100% efficient in foreign languages.
Support was efficient, pro functions are really useful and exceed needs.
Still some error in Italian interface language.
Maybe the whole UI could be renewed to get a more "professional" look.
Maybe a more flexible license starting from two devices at base price could be useful.
An Android reduced version will be appreciated.

After using the software for a couple weeks a few things I've noticed is that it feels very clean and "snappy". I find there is no lagging. I have not gone though everything but there does not seem to be any lacking of functionality to do whatever you need it to do and yet it does not feel like a bloated or laggy at all.

Adding to a document with typewriter or text boxes works very well, and again very quick. No lagging to add to the document.
I do alot of page extractions and I find the method of remembering is just fantastic. Other programs I've used in the past cannot even remember which folder to save it to, let alone remember to keep it as extracting current page or extract the same page #s when you have to do something repetitive. File opening seems to be a bit slow but once open, everything is so much faster from OCR-ing the page to editing, everything just works so much better than any others I've tried over the years.

PDF-Xchange is a fairly intuitive app, in spite of its extensive feature-set. I've been able to pretty much hit the ground running with this app, and am happy to have made the purchase. It was reddit posts that brought me to test it out, and they were absolutely right to recommend this software. Moving away from Adobe products has been easier than I thought it would be. So far, PDFXchange and the Affinity products have covered my adobe needs while together only costing a couple of months worth of Adobe subscription for lifetime licenses for software. My only concern is with the license activation process, I'm not clear if it works in such a way as to ensure the software is still usable if/when PDF-xchange website/servers disappear

I have been using PDF-XChange Editor for many years, and I think it is truly outstanding software.
I recently upgraded my license from the regular PDF-XChange Editor to PDF-XChange Editor PLUS.
This upgrade gave me the ability to use their excellent OCR (optical character reader) software
that is built into PDF-XChange Editor PLUS. I had a few questions about the OCR software and
I was totally amazed with the incredibly good (AND FAST!!!) customer service support that the
PDF-XChange software team provides. Bravo!!!

Got used to the old free version which was sort of easier to find the functions and it took me a while to find all the functions I was used to, but now I love the licensed version with the extra options and I am slowly but surely getting used to it. Will probably now battle with the old version again. Money worth spent.

I purchased your PDF-XChange Editor out of frustration with Adobe's Reader, with NCH's PicoPDF, and with Foxit's Reader as well. Both Adobe and Foxit had eliminated bookmarking from their "reader" products, requiring subscriptions at fairly high prices to contract products that would permit bookmarking in PDF format documents. PicoPDF seemed useful until I discovered it would not load large PDF files. I found your product quite by accident and am glad I did. Yours is now my "go to" product for managing files in PDF format having set it up as the default program for ".pdf" files. I not only appreciate being able to bookmark but am particularly fond of the OCR Convert feature that efficiently permits text selection within large documents without requiring conversion of the entire document. In summary I'm very fond of your product; it's a keeper.

There is little question that this is the most complex PDF program I have ever used, with a variety of PDF file security features.
Obviously, the functions of PDF-XChange Editor are not shared with other comparable applications.
The program quality is excellent.

Good product. I used a cracked version for several years. I am a developer myself, and I decided to support the product by purchasing a license. But I am not ready to pay for a subscription, a lifetime license is a good option.
