Hi
My original install consisted of PDF Pro 5 and Editor. I have now upgraded to PDF XChange Pro but have found two issues with the interaction with MS Office 2010.
When starting Word after the upgrade it complained that there was serious issue with the PDF add in and disabled it. It will not allow me to re-enable the add in. When Word starts there is tab on the ribbon for PDF.
Excel starts without complaining but has two tabs entitled PDF-XChange V6. The second instance does not have profile drop down populated whereas the first instance does.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Red

Hello Red,
I believe you are experiencing the same problem as discussed here:
https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... 845#p99845
The issue is remnant registry entries inside Word, that need to be removed and all should work OK after that.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: PDF Xchange Pro Install issue with MS Office 2010
Thanks Stefan,
I have looked at your thread but unsure where to post this reply, so I posted it here
I have uninstalled all of the PDF Tracker software (viewer, tools v4, PDF Pro 2012, a couple of versions of editor V5, and Pro V6). Rebooted and checked the registry for remnants.
Reinstalled Pro V6 and Excel seems fine but Word still shows the .com addin as disabled and will not allow me to enable or delete the addin. I had looked at Word after uninstalling pro V6 and the add in had gone, but reinstalling ProV6 and the add in appears in the disabled list.
Please advise

Re: PDF Xchange Pro Install issue with MS Office 2010
Hi Red,
Can you please go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PXCOfficeAddin6.Addin and change the LoadBehaviour Value to 3 and see if that will fix the issue with it being blocked?
Regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan
I don't have that registry key
There are three other keys
Adobe.Contribute.OfficePlugin
OneNote.WordAddinTakeNotesButton
OneNote.WordAddinTakeNotesService
Shall I add it?

Re: PDF Xchange Pro Install issue with MS Office 2010
Looking elsewhere in the registry I have found these two which seem to refer to an older version.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PXCOfficeAddin5.Addin
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PXCOfficeAddin5.Addin.1
Also the PDF 2012 Printer is still available in my printers list.
Does this help?
Cheers

Re: PDF Xchange Pro Install issue with MS Office 2010
Aha! Sorted it.
I was trying to enable the word add in from the Manage COM add ins section in Word. The pdf add in was listed and the enable check box was tickable, but it ignored the tick.
However, at the end of the list with the "manage COM add ins" was "manage disabled items", and this has enabled the pdf add in and now the tab appears in the ribbon.
Phew!
Thanks for your help.
